Tully announces his retirement.

With disappointment I learned that our esteemed colleague Tom Tully has retired from Refereeing with the ending of the Season. The AOH Final being his last Official Appointment.

Tom has spent the last 21 years involved in Refereeing and has Refereed from Schoolboys right the way up to the Premier Division of the League of Ireland.

Having sat on many Committees, Tom was Chairman of the Branch for the last two Seasons.

Highlights of his career has been a clean sweep of every local Final (after doing the Teddy Healy Final in 2008), The Intermediate Cup Final 2003 and the FAI Senior Cup Final as 4th Official in 1999.

Tom is well respected as an excellent Referee, who has worked selflessly for all members of ISRS, not just in Cork but beyond over the last 20 years. The following are comments left on the Foot.ie website (which is seldom (never) complimentary of Referees) by anonymous local players recently which shows the regard that people have for Tom.

“ Best ref: Tom Tully by a country mile”  Littleman

“I agree that Tully is the only man for the job when it comes to nasty play, .............. he's consistent and fair and doesn’t get intimidated and ultimately he will protect the players and punish the hackers - the league will be aloss for him next year, Tom Tully we salute you !! …………………… thanks for all you've given to cork football !”  Le Tizz

Tom has taken up a position with Umbro as their Munster Rep and I am sure that all my colleagues in The Refereeing Circles and beyond will join with me in wishing Tom well in his new career..

Good Luck Tom.
